XR with Godot 4.5 — Prototyping on Meta Quest 3
The South Tyrol Free Software Conference (SFSCON) is one of Europe’s most established events dedicated to Free and Open-Source Software.
SFSCON aims to promote the adoption of Free Software within digital infrastructures as a driver of innovation, openness, and competitiveness — bringing together decision-makers, developers, researchers, and industry experts to share knowledge, learn, and get inspired.
The 2025 edition will take place on 7–8 November 2025 and, as always, will be organized and hosted by NOI Techpark in Bolzano, South Tyrol’s leading innovation hub.
Our contribution: open XR for everyone
As part of the official program, Suggesto will host a hands-on workshop dedicated to creating immersive and interactive experiences using fully open and interoperable XR technologies.
XR con Godot 4.5 — Prototyping on Meta Quest 3
7 November — 2:00 PM – NOI Techpark
During the workshop, we will introduce the latest developments in Android XR, OpenXR, and next-generation AR/VR devices, before moving on to a hands-on session where participants will see how to:
- set up a fully open-source XR development environment
- use Godot Engine 4.5 and OpenXR
- build an XR prototype with Meta Quest 3 and passthrough
- deploy the project directly to the headset
The workshop is open to everyone and does not require prior XR development experience — making it ideal for developers, creatives, and digital explorers interested in the immersive world through open tools.
The goal of the workshop is to demonstrate how creators can build immersive experiences without proprietary constraints, fostering a more open, accessible, and collaborative XR ecosystem.
XR Hacking Village: try our prototypes
In addition to the workshop, Suggesto will be present at the XR Hacking Village, a dedicated SFSCON area focused on the potential of immersive technologies built on open-source solutions.
At the XR Hacking Village, you will be able to try our immersive demos and speak directly with the Suggesto team.
It’s a great opportunity to share ideas, curiosities, and proposals, and to explore our projects in augmented and virtual reality applied to culture and tourism up close.
